Anguilla Beaches

The beaches on Anguilla are indisputably some of the finest in the world. Powdery white sand and crystal clear, turquoise waters. It is simply not possible to choose one over the next. There are a total 33 beaches in Anguilla, each one different in character. With none ever overly crowded, it is always possible to find a perfect private spot. South Coast beaches are most often calm with the North Beaches more susceptible to larger surf at certain times of the year. There is great diversity between them.

Barnes Bay

Located between Meads Bay and West End Bay. With Viceroy at one end, Mangoes Restaurant in the middle, and high end luxury villas at the other end, Barnes Bay is a lovely beach to visit, very private at the west end of the Beach.

Blackgarden Bay

Blackgarden Bay is one of the least-visited beaches in Anguilla, little rocky but very private

Blowing Point

Blowing Point beach to the east of the ferry is a working harbour. You will see numerous small ferry boats and fishing boats anchored in the bay, plus fisherman and a 200 yard stretch of sand.

Captains Bay

On the north coast near the far eastern tip of the island you will find Captains Bay, a very dramatic and beautiful beach that is totally secluded and very much worth the drive. We recommend a jeep or rugged car to get there as the roads are unpaved. Also be careful of the heavy surf and undertow which tends to be strong. Perhaps the largest waves on the island. Deserted. Great for sunbathing and strolling. Under no circumstances is swimming recommended there, not even wading.

Cove Bay

Peaceful with moderate surf, the beach is a bit more rugged looking but great for young kids to swim. Highlight and main attraction of this beach is Smokey’s Beach Grill which has a great traditional Caribbean beach menu and live music. Cove Bay is the only major beach in the West End without a hotel on it. Cove Bay faces St. Maarten between Rendevous Bay (Sonesta) and Maundays Bay.

Crocus Bay

This classic beach is the closest to Anguilla’s capital, The Valley. Crocus Bay is the site of an historic invasion by the French in 1745, as well as a protected anchorage for fisherman and yachtsmen. You’ll find Davida’s Beach Restaurant there, with Lounge Chairs and Umbrellas.

Dropsea Bay

Anguilla has many hidden delights, including this tiny cove in the middle of nowhere. Excellent for little children for their first snorkel experience, just dip your head under water and see thousands of small colorful fish. Ask our Concierge for Directions, this beach is very hard to find.

Savannah Bay / Junks Hole

Another remote beach on the East End of the Island has a great stretch of white sand. The Eastern edge is sheltered with smaller waves, while the western end of the beach popular with the island’s few kite surfers and boogie boarders. A single restaurant shack on this beach, Nat’s Palm Grove, is truly a find. Enjoy grilled lobsters and bar-b-q on the undeveloped stretch.

Katouche Bay

Between Road Bay and Crocus Bay on Anguilla’s Northern coast is a fun exploring beach; Katouche Bay. It is the start of the Katouche Valley rainforest, it is never crowded, it is a fun place to explore or have a picnic, and it is a good place to look for fossil sea life.

Limestone Bay

On the Central North Coast. Limestone is a very private and secluded small beach that is well worth the drive. You’ll very often be the only ones on this beach which is quite beautiful and serene. At times the surf can be big and so swimming here is not always ideal. Limestone Bay is about 100 yards of scenic perfection on a rocky coast. Ideal for picnics, there is even a tree or two for shade.

Little Bay

A must during your visit. This beach is a Marine Park and extraordinary for snorkeling and swimming. Sea turtles, sting Rays and colorful fish are plentiful. Pelicans diving for fish here is a treat to watch. Accessible only by boat, or if you are adventurous, a climb down the ropes down from the surrounding cliffs. One of the most breathtaking sights is standing on this small hidden beach which is surrounded by towering cliffs and caves. Located below the road that runs to Limestone Bay, the two can be combined for an afternoon visit. Little Bay is one of the most famous beaches in Anguilla and one of the smallest.

Long Bay

Long Bay has perfect sunsets, beautiful cliffs in the late afternoon, a small pond and a couple of scenic palm trees. The sandy beach is effectively divided into two beaches by some protruding rocks that extend into the water.

Maundays Bay

One of the most dramatic beaches and home to Cap Juluca: a perfect horseshoe beach with shockingly white sand and clear blue water. The resort takes up pretty much the whole beach but is public, with parking and public access on the eastern end. We advise you to bring your own chairs, although in less busy times they will make chairs available to visitors eating at one of the resort’s restaurants: the only options for dining at this beach. Southwestern coast on the sea side of Cove pond and Gull pond.

Meads Bay

Located on the North Side Coast on the West end of the Island, Meads Bay is one of the Anguilla’s longest and widest beaches. An excellent beach for walking, swimming and sunbathing with gorgeous sand and sea. There are times during the year when the surf can be a tad rough making it a little bit tougher for the young or elderly to swim. The east and west ends of the beach hold the Malliouhana and Viceroy resorts respectively. It is advisable to bring your own chairs and umbrellas, as they are not as readily available. Lunch can be had at Malliouhana’s beach restaurant, Straw Hat or Jacala Beach Restaurant
This graceful semi-circle of white sand beach is just east of Barnes Bay. It’s perfect for a nice slow walk, with hot rays of sun for you to absorb, clear water to float and cool down, and beach bars at the Malliouhana and Frangipanì resorts along the way. Mead’s Bay has an idyllic swimming area for families, near the Malliouhana.

Mimi Bay

Mimi Bay is a classic hidden spot in Anguilla – down the end of a long, obscure, dirt road; suddenly you come to a romantic beach, as in swept away, wild and unspoiled. Mimi Bay is located on the southeastern shore, between Seafeathers Bay and Sile Bay, facing the open Atlantic, and therefore subject to high waves and currents at many times.

Rendezvous Bay

Located on the Central South Coast, this beach is another long stretch of beach and one of the most popular. The bay shelters the beach which has crystal clear water and gentle waves making it absolutely perfect for relaxed swimming. Picturesque view of St. Maarten. Lunch is available at the Dune Preserve and The Anguilla Great House. 2km+ miles of pearl-white sand. Golf, luxury villas, top restaurants, spa on beach.
One of the most spectacular beaches on Anguilla is Rendezvous Bay Beach. This long perfect crescent faces St. Maarten and has plenty of room for three resorts, while still having long stretches of undeveloped beach.
Rendezvous Bay beach is perhaps the most perfect of all Anguilla beaches to walk.

Sandy Ground

A much protected bay with very calm waters and a number of restaurants. A popular beach for locals, many of whom keep boats moored in what is Anguilla’s main port, marina and fishing village. See the Island children swimming and sailing from this beach. The calm and shallow waters are perfect for little children. Jazz at Johnno’s at the center of Sandy Ground on Sundays is a must.

Sandy Hill Bay

Between The Valley and Junks Hole at East End, there is a wonderful small beach with no restaurants, no hotels, and therefore no signs: Sandy Hill Bay. The protected anchorage provides safety for fish boats and the sandy beach provides gentle swimming for a few nearby residences.

Sandy Island

Sandy Island is a tiny islet with a lagoon just off Road Bay. a favorite excursion destination in Anguilla. Lunch Restaurant which offers local BBQ.
Sandy Island, lying 1 mile off Sandy Ground, is the smallest islet surrounded by shallow reefs and consisting of little more than some fine sand and a couple of coconut palms – you can basically walk around the whole thing in just 10 minutes.
The reefs offer reasonable snorkeling, with waving finger corals, sea fans and small tropical fish rippling under the crystal surface. To get to Sandy Island, simple arrange the five-minute boat ride at Sandy Ground.

Scilly Cay

One of the most famous tourist places in Anguilla is Sandra and Eudoxie Wallace’s restaurant and tropical playground on Scilly Cay.
Scilly Cay, a tiny coral based island crowns the bay in the village of Island Harbour. Its low island vegetation and tiny sand beach made it the perfect spot for a daytime restaurant. The island is owned and operated by Sandra and Eudoxie Wallace who are dedicated to making your stay on Scilly an experience to remember. If you are coming to Anguilla, you owe it to yourself to dine out on Scilly Cay.
Also excellent for sunbathers on their loungers, swimming and snorkeling.

Sherricks Bay

At the West End of Anguilla is a small, secluded beach on Sherricks Bay. To go there head straight west on the main road which runs through the island. Instead of turning left toward Cove Castles after the West End Salt Pond, continue straight on the narrow local road through West End Village, then stay left until the road ends at a sandy path leading to the beach on Sherricks Bay.

Shoal Bay East

Perhaps the most famous of Anguilla’s beaches and often voted one of the top beaches in the world. It is also perhaps the most happening with chairs and umbrellas for rent and a number of restaurants right on the beach. With pristine clear waters, powder white sand, it stretches for miles with a large distant reef breaking any large waves. Snorkeling is excellent here as many small reefs are close to shore and easily accessible. Truly spectacular about everything here, #1 in the Caribbean and the world.

Shoal Bay West

Dazzling beach with great restaurants, resorts and striking villas complexes. Anguilla has two Shoal Bays – and both have “shoals” or reefs. Shoal Bay East gets all the publicity, but Shoal Bay West is a perfect, crescent shaped beach at the West End of the Island. It is quiet, with a beautiful view of St. Maarten and a long arch of Anguilla sand.

Sile Bay

Sile Bay is another one of Anguilla’s apparently endless supply of remote and wonderful beaches. Sile Bay has two parts: the closer is a crescent of rock and the further is a longer crescent of sand. Located on the south shore of Anguilla, in the East End, between Mimi Bay and Savannah Bay, it has no shade, no services, and no crowds.

West End Bay

Anguilla has so many beaches that it is a challenge to identify them all. This small beach is located near the far western end of Anguilla. There are no hotels or services on the beach, in spite of it being a perfect small crescent.

Windward Point Beach

At the far eastern tip of Anguilla is a small hill with panoramic views in all directions. This is Windward Point. To the east you see deserted Scrub Island with its leeward side beach and rolling countryside. To the west you see Windward Point Beach, St. Barts and St. Maarten in the distance, then the north coast of Anguilla.
